Jaswant Thada, located half way up the interminably long road that climbs onwards to the fort, is the traditional cremation ground of the rulers of Jodhpur. Taking pride of place amongst the ornamental gardens and chattris ("chhatri" means umbrella or canopies & are funerary sites in India which have such structures built over them) the fabulous white marble memorial to Maharaja Jaswant Singh II, built in 1899. Jaswant Thada is a marble cenotaph, built in 1899 by his son Maharaja Sardar Singh. This magnificent white memorial, also called the Taj Mahal of Marwar, was built in the memory of Maharaja Jaswant Singh II, the 33rd Rathore ruler of Jodhpur. It is a fine example of classic Rajputana architecture.

What a beautiful setting. It is almost that you trained those birds to complete the composition! Magical.
