The FlowersellerPosted by Angshuman (New Delhi, India) on 24 March 2008 in People & Portrait. We were in the night flower market inside Russel Market situated in Central Bangalore (now called Bengaluru). It was past 7.30 pm in this indoor market, being lit up by incandescent lamps in the shops. "Chacha, kya main aapka ek photo le sakta hoon?" we asked in Hindi, meaning "Uncle can I take your photograph?" This brought a quizzed smile on the flower seller’s face. He must have been around his mid sixties, and perhaps he was wondering what on earth are these fellows with cameras trying to do inside the market & why do they want to take my photograph? But a faintest of nods with his head meant Yes, & I took this shot. When I showed him the picture on my camera’s LCD, his mouth opened a bit with a thin smile. (C) Angshuman Chatterjee
